Today me and Mr Lologa Re-Booted the network (refer to the last entry on 28 February 2010 - Re-booting the Network) because we found out that the emacs and other mac around the school would come up with a IP address that already belong to another computer.

we started with cabinet A and moved up the network B,C,D,E,F and G we started to switch them off and then the school's alarm when off well we running around so we ran and try to switch off the alarm before the security guys come we got it switched off and the security guys didn't come.

we finished off the data cabinets and we waited and talked about what i should do after i turn on the cabinets.

Mr Lologa said "You can Take the printer from my store room and laptop and take it to one of the class rooms" so i went back to work and began switching the data cabinets Back on After that i went back and garbed the printer and set it up in the old kiwi can room.

Today I was at randwick installing the last couple of Emacs  and i got the last couple running on ccc (If you don't know what CCC Means read my last blog) and then the network ( file sharing server, internet and mail etc..) went down and there was only one place in the school where you could get it. So went something wasn't right. So we went back each step and closely analyzed it closely.

Mr Lologa showed me where the  cabinets were and we switched them all off.We also had to switch off the airports which are the wireless points that wireless machines like laptops can connect too without cables.
And it went in order so we Started in the administration block and it went A B C D E F G and .and then we had to switch them all back on so Mr sat at the main Bord and watch witch ones I was switching on and it lights up every one I turn on.And in the end we got it all back to normal before I have to get home.

Today we had to make sure that the new Emacs that we set up using ccc  had Internet cables so the students of Randwick Park School could access the Internet. Then we did a quick tidy up of the ICT lab after that Mr Lologa Asked me to set up a mixer in the hall.
He wanted me to do this because we got a new mixer last year but we don't want it damaged so we are using our old radio station mixer so it dose not get broken or damaged
So I went and got the mixer and took it to the hall and checked that it worked so we can use it for Assemblies and that's when we found someone had broken one of the school mics now we have to pay more money to get a mic that already got fix to get fixed again for the same reason.

Today I was at Randwick Park School unwrapping and setting up about 18 new emacs.

They came with nothing on them so we had to find a fast way to put on mac os x so we use a program called ccc or Carbon Copy Cloner where you can

Clone Synchronize Schedule Backup

Your hard drive But we use the clone part of the program using a firewire instead of going around with Hundreds of cd/dvds.
We use one good computer thats already in the classroom and we put on 'CCC' and we cloned it.
It does all we use to do but its alot faster.
